Info: Join Wordstock and Multnomah County Library for a free festival “sneak-peak” event. In honor of the Wordstock 2011 theme “American Stories,” three Portland-based festival authors present three different takes on “Portland Stories”: Kerry Cohen, “Seeing Ezra: A Mother’s Story of Autism, Unconditional Love, and the Meaning of Normal”; David Biespiel, “Every Writer Has a Thousand Faces,” “The Book of Men and Women”; and Kilong Ung, “Golden Leaf: A Khmer Rouge Genocide Survivor.”

Founder of the Attic Writers Workshop, Portland poet David Biespiel won the Oregon Book Award for 2009’s The Book of Men and Women, which was also named Best Poetry of the Year by the Poetry Foundation. A collection of poems about regret, longing, and loss, the author explores the intricacies of relationships between men and women in settings both real and imaginary. Biespiel’s latest title is Every Writer Has a Thousand Faces, a book about the creative process.
