Reading Local: Portland

The Reading Local Contest is a recurring contest happening every month where the winner can choose one of the $25 gift certificates provided by Broadway Books, The Title Wave Used Bookstore, or Annie Bloom’s Books, as well as one of the $10 gift certificates provided by A Children’s Place Bookstore, or Second Glance Books! After the winner has chosen the gift certificates they would like, the other four gift certificates will then be given out at random to other readers who have left comments.  I will do it the old fashioned way, by putting small pieces of paper into a hat (one for each comment left), and then which ever name I draw will be who wins the gift certificates.  Check out July’s contest results for an example of how the drawing works. Except for the contest winner, only one gift certificate will be allowed per person.

The contest is a race to see which Reading Local reader can garner the most points in a given month.  How do you get points?  One of three ways:

1. Comment on any post or page (where available).
2. Comment on the Reading Local Facebook page.
3. Retweet any tweets from the @readportland or @readinglocal Twitter feeds.

It’s as simple as that.  It’s more engaging for us as content creators and you the content consumers to have an active audience, so it’s the least we can do to reward that participation.

Details are as follows:

-Contest begins at 12:00am on the first of every month, and ends at 11:59pm on the last day of each month.
-Only three comments per post, unless it is a reply to another comment.
-Only original/relevant comments will be counted, no spam or trackbacks.  Reading Local will be the judge of relevancy.
-You must live within 75 miles of Portland in order to win.
-You must leave a valid email with your comment so that I can contact you if you are selected as a winner
-In the event of a tie, the winner will be the person who has never won the contest, or has had the longest period of time from their last win.
