Light up a couple fireworks for us, break out the champagne, or at least your preferred reading drink. Raise your glass and let us make a toast. To you our audience, our community, our support and the reason we keep at this crazy endeavor!

We’ve been cooking up something that we think will make Reading Local a more useful tool for our literary community. The above image is our new logo. That’s not the big reveal, but that’s certainly the representative face for what we hope is a big step for Reading Local. We wanted a fresh start, because we felt we deserved a fancy face for our NEW SITE!

That’s right, we’ve been cooking up a new site that will incorporate all the wonderful parts of Reading Local and add in new tools to help make our literary community stronger. We believe this will give Gabe and I the opportunity to work harder at growing this community and focus our attentions on providing exciting content that raises the bar for Reading Local. We don’t want to simply be a literary calendar, we want to be a celebration of our literary community, the network that brings readers, authors, publishers, zinesters, booksellers and more together. We want Reading Local to be your go-to site for taking part in the book world we all love.

Now the new site is still on it’s way, we’re making final tweaks right now and are looking to start a Limited Beta period for the new site on July 8th! We’re inviting our die-hard supporters and readers, along with hosts from the other Reading Local locations, to help us test the new site. We will let them play around, get a feel for the new site, use it and help us iron out any kinks. Don’t worry though, if you’re not on our Beta team, you’ll still get the same content from our new site, just not all the fancy new-fangled tools and looks.

Then two weeks later we’ll run an Extended Beta and finally on August 6th, we will launch the site to the public. We have a lot more coming up surrounding the launch of the exciting new site, so stay tuned. Thank You so much for your support and keep reading.
