Ooligan Press’s awesome two-day Write to Publish conference is powering up for this weekend, May 22 and Write to Publish conference23rd. The aim of the conference is to “demystify the publishing industry for writers,” and who better to do that than the folks at Ooligan?

Here are a few highlights of what you can expect at Workshop Day (5/22) and Open House Day (5/23):

  • Both Chuck Palahniuk and Ursula K. LeGuin will speak.
  • Drinks, conversation, and celebrity imitations (not really) with fellow writers at the Open House.
  • Industry mingle!
  • Writing business workshops on everything from graphic novels to copyright to self-publishing to finding an agent.

Open House Day is free if you buy a ticket to Workshop Day.  For ticket information, visit the conference website.

Gabe Barber started Reading Local in January of 2009 as a vehicle for exploring Portland's literary scene. He's not an aspiring author, and you won't find his work on a bookshelf or in any prestigious lit rag. He is however, a full on book nerd, with a passion for independent literature.
