So I’m nervous. If you haven’t read the previous post from Gabe on today’s featured Event, The 1000 Word reading series is happening tonight at The Maiden at 7pm and I am one of the readers. There are 3 other readers all of whom, I am pretty sure, are published writers, which leaves me totally outclassed and overwhelmingly nervous. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun. I haven’t been doing much writing since my time with the Portland Fiction Project, and it’s nice to get a few pieces done (albeit short short pieces) and be able to share them at a reading. Anyway, I managed to pry myself away from my nervous worrying to pull a few links for this weeks round up.

New This week -
Not sure if any of you know this, but May is National Short Story Month – so states Dan Wickett of Emerging Writers Network and DZANC books. I fully support this and hope that eventually is officially recognized as such soon. Last year’s was great as Dan shared a new short story (often several) every day on EWN Blog. Anyway, I will do what I can to share some favorites this month and I hope that you will do the same.
Today’s piece is by Jeremy Benjamin of the Portland Fiction Project
