Dave Weich has been busy since parting ways with Powell’s Books last year, and is leveraging the experience and contacts gained as their director of marketing and development to propel his new venture, Sheepscot Creative.  Sheepscot’s current “flagship project” is Read Roll Show, a web based video series jointly presented by OPB’s Live Wire Radio, and the Wordstock Book Festival.  It’s aim is to enrich “Live Wire’s programming and [ensure] that Wordstock stays on Portland’s radar all year long.”

Currently on the Read Roll site you will find interviews Weich conducted with Sam Lipsyte, Joshua Ferris, and Daniel Pink, as well as links to the over 200 interviews he conducted while at Powell’s.  Coming shortly will be interviews with Rebecca Skloot and Brady Udall, and Read Roll promises further “candid interviews with celebrated authors and artists” and “eventually, with people who are neither authors nor artists, nor celebrated, but who, undeterred, snuck into our studio and started talking.”

You can keep track of what Read Roll Show is up to via their Facebook or Twitter pages.

Gabe Barber started Reading Local in January of 2009 as a vehicle for exploring Portland's literary scene. He's not an aspiring author, and you won't find his work on a bookshelf or in any prestigious lit rag. He is however, a full on book nerd, with a passion for independent literature.
