The Association of Writers and Writing Programs 2010 conference swings into full gear Denvertoday in Denver, and there are plenty of local heroes there.  A few highlights for those of us living vicariously or slogging through the convention center with our schedules in our hands:

  • Tin House managing editor Cheston Knapp will be at the One Story table at 4:30 today to talk about his story, “A Minor Momentousness in the History of Love.”  This is Cheston’s first published story (!), and you can read his great Q&A with One Story founder and editor Hannah Tinti at that link.
  • Steve Almond will also be at the One Story table tomorrow, Friday April 9th, to sign copies of Rock and Roll Will Save Your Life.
  • Looks like you can catch Portland poet Matthew Dickman at 3 pm tomorrow, Friday April 9th, in conversation with Brenda Hillman, Patricia Smith, and Philip Schulz.  Details here (scroll down.)
  • Future Tense publisher and author Kevin Sampsell blogs here about his AWP plans.

Tin House is providing a live Twittercast of events at the conference, so grab the hashtag and check back.  And if you just want to get a general sense of what goes on at these things, Documenting AWP is a nice place to start.
