Mark your calendar for Booker Prize-winning author Roddy Doyle, who will read Roddy Doyleand autograph books at Powell’s on Burnside Wednesday May 5, at 7:30 pm.

Doyle’s latest novel, The Dead Republic, follows the story of Henry Smart, who was first introduced in A Star Called Henry and Oh, Play That Thing. Smart charts a picaresque course across the American and Irish landscapes in the mid-twentieth century, wandering into political and cultural intrigue along the way.

In a starred review, Publishers Weekly says, “Doyle exhibits a peerless ear for cynicism as he grapples with the violence and farce of Irish history.”

You can preorder a signed copy of The Dead Republic from Powell’s Books here.
