So Wordstock has had a poll up on their facebook page for a couple weeks now seeking feedback on what genre the general Wordstock loving public would want featured at this year’s festival. It looks like Short Fiction is taking the cake with about 67% of the vote. Which is a real winner in my book to be featured. I think Short Fiction deserves a bit more attention, not because it’s dying or anything dramatic as many articles today make its current state out to be, but because It’s such a strong tool for fiction writers and often produces some of the tightest works of prose. I’d be a fan of most of the genres in the poll, but I think Short Fiction could use a day in the sun. Admittedly, however, it’s not nearly as popular as its cousin the novel.

Anyway, if you still haven’t voted in the poll you should do so now on their facebook page.
