The Academy of American Poets is gearing up for a new event for National Poetry Month in April: Poem on the Range.
Pick a poetically iconic view, building, or location, and upload its photo to the Poem on the Range Flickr Group. Or add it to the Google Map for Poem on the Range. For extra points, take your video camera with you and send in a video of yourself reading the poem on location. The possibilities for Portland and Oregon are endless! (The Fish Counter at Bonneville, The Tillamook Burn, The Museum at Tillamook…)
The best part? (Apart from representing Oregon on the national poetry map, that is.) The Academy says,
Entries received by April 21, 2010, will be considered for a special National Poetry Month feature on Poets.org, and top entries will be thanked with enough poetry goods to keep you well-versed for all those miles to go.
What’s your favorite poem about an Oregon location?
