New Release:

In celebration of his retirement as a writer, Charles Deemer has published A Charles Deemer Reader (Sextant Press).  The collection is available in paperback from The Sextant Press, and also as a free ebook at Lulu.

Description:

A Charles Deemer Reader brings together 4 short stories, 3 personal essays, 4 plays, 1 screenplay, 2 novellas, and 9 poems.

About The Author:

Though Deemer may be retiring as a writer, he is not retiring as a creative person. He is currently at work composing a chamber opera called Life Is A Nice Place To Visit. He also serves as the Artistic Director for Small Screen Video, as well as the Editor for the Oregon Literary Review.  You can follow what Deemer is up to over on his blog The Writing Life II.

Gabe Barber started Reading Local in January of 2009 as a vehicle for exploring Portland's literary scene. He's not an aspiring author, and you won't find his work on a bookshelf or in any prestigious lit rag. He is however, a full on book nerd, with a passion for independent literature.
