J. A. Jance (Murder By The Book, @4:00pm): Former TV journalist Ali Reynolds has taken on a media relations position with the police department and her first day on the job will test both her reporting and crime-solving skills. Jance’s previous book in the series, Cruel Intent, will be available in paperback in November.
First Thursday: Fake Rock Band Poster Exhibit (Floating World Comics, @6:00pm): This First Thursday we have a group show where over a dozen artists (T Edward Bak, Rikki Barney, Sean Christensen, Chris Cilla, David V. D’Andrea, Milo George, Justin Hampton, Kevin Hooyman, Klutch, Jason Leivian, Jason Overby, Jennifer Parks, E*Rock, Tim Root, Zack Soto) have designed flyers, posters and album covers for bands… that don’t actually exist. The show is co-curated by T. Edward Bak (Service Industry, Mome, D&Q Showcase). Show runs through Dec. 31st
First Thursday: The Art of Boilerplate (Powell’s City of Books, @6:30pm): The Basil Hallward Gallery is pleased to present paintings, photos, and illustrations from Boilerplate: History’s Mechanical Marvel, the fanciful creation of husband-and-wife team Paul Guinan and Anina Bennett, who have richly imagined a robot soldier and inserted it into accurate retellings of history.
Readings at Rilassi (Rilassi Coffee House and Tea, @6:30pm): Rilassi Coffee House and Tea, Ken Arnold Books and Buzzaroonie present David Biespiel for the December Readings at Rilassi event. Biespiel will read from The Book of Men and Women (UW Press), his newest book of poetry. As always this event is Free and Open to the Public and free drip coffee will be offered.
Poetry Reading with Carol Guess, Kendal Frey, and Elizabeth Colen (Looking Glass Bookstore, @7:00pm): Carol Guess, author of Tinderbox Lawn, and Kendal Frey, author of Airport will read along with Elizabeth Colen.
