Wordstock announced the dates and location for the 2010 festival in a statement today:
Get those 2010 calendars ready: We’re pleased to announce that next year’s Wordstock will take place October 7-10, 2010 at the Oregon Convention Center. We’re so very excited, and have started making our author wish list for Santa.
We’ve already started thinking about plans for next year’s festival, and would like to ask you to help us make some more. Make sure you’re connected with us via Facebook or Twitter, because beginning in January we’re going to ask you to help choose the genres we focus on in 2010. In 2008, we featured mystery, graphic novels, and science fiction; in 2009, we showcased memoir, food writing, and young adult literature. What do you want to see at Wordstock this coming year? Start mulling that question over. Sometime soon after the new year begins, we’ll be coming back to you to ask again!
Also, don’t forget about the Willamette Week Give Guide, of which Wordstock is a chosen beneficiary. Wordstock hopes to raise $5,000 by the December 31st deadline, and you can help them reach this goal here. To sweeten the pot Wordstock is promising the following prizes for donors:
If you donate $50 or more to us, we’ll add a pair of tickets to the Wordstock Book Fair in 2010. Make it $100 or more, and you’ll get two tickets to our opening night event at next year’s festival, too. For $250 or more, plan on joining us at next year’s private Wordstock author reception.
Maybe next year I can influence my father to come either before or after Wordstock Week, so that I actually get to attend the festivities…
