This Sunday 12/20 from 11am – 6pm the Publication Studio hosts a Publication Fair.

“An old-fashioned fair, like 4-H but with books instead of livestock. See the best new books, mags, and printed matter from your favorite PDX printers, publishers, and publication vendors. Enjoy our popcorn balls and hot cider. Take part in free public info sessions about the ins and outs of future publication. Buy great books!” – Publication Studio Event Page

This is the type of event Reading Local loves. Publication Studio has brought Portland publishers into the fold and setup a fun community event that will not only bring a little more attention to their operation there @ the Cleaners @ Ace Hotel, but will give people a little face time with Portland’s grand array of publishers and literary organizations.

If you missed the Publishers West Cocktail hour this evening, then come and have a jolly good time getting to know folks from Hawthorne Books, IPRC, Reading Frenzy, and Ampersand (and then tons more).

There will be an info session for everyone to discuss publication resources and an all-ages Rebound party, wherein you can bring an old paperback and Publication Studio friends will help you rebind it with a cover you make yourself.

And to top it off there will be hot cider and popcorn balls to keep those creative vibes flowing.

It’s the perfect combination of creative forum, festive party, and community gathering for the publication minded. I know that Gabe and I will be there checking things out and if you’re around, stop us and say hello.

Gabe Barber started Reading Local in January of 2009 as a vehicle for exploring Portland's literary scene. He's not an aspiring author, and you won't find his work on a bookshelf or in any prestigious lit rag. He is however, a full on book nerd, with a passion for independent literature.
