Tomorrow’s Featured Book Event:
Portland Fiction Project (The Maiden, @7:00pm): Come join the Portland Fiction Project for our first bimonthly (that’s once every two months instead of twice every month) reading at The Maiden! Hear our selected stories on the theme “Favoritism,” as well as a special guest reading from 1,000 Word Reading series creator Mel Favara, music by sallo, donations accepted by SOSSA. So be there or be square, and remember, this to the squares: your narcissism is mediocre. Be exceptional! For more information on the PFP, check out Reading Local’s series of interviews with the members of PFP and their corresponding essays.
Other Book Events Tomorrow:
Whiskey Days Book Release Party (Alberta Street Pub, @7:00pm): The release of Tommy Gaffney’s Whiskey Days (Night Bomb Press) will be celebrated with an evening of “books and booze, music and muses.” Joining Gaffney at the Book Release Bash will be local poets Heather Evanson and Christopher Luna.
Goddess of the Market: Ayn Rand and the American Right (Powell’s City of Books, @7:30pm): Drawing on unprecedented access to Ayn Rand’s private papers and original, unedited journals, Jennifer Burns’s Goddess of the Market (Oxford University Press) offers a groundbreaking reassessment of this key cultural figure, examining her life, her ideas, and her impact on conservative political thought.
