New Releases From Future Tense and Underland Press Available For Pre-Order

Put Your Head In My Lap, a new collection of stories from Claudia Smith is now available for pre-order on the Future Tense website.  Featuring cover art from local artist Hayley Barker, Put Your Head In My Lap is described as “a new collection full of emotionally taut and sweetly melancholic stories that evoke the pain of lost love and broken families.”  The book will be shipped in mid-September.

Underland Press‘ new release from Jeff Vandermeer entitled Finch is also available for pre-order.  Finch is available in three separate editions.  The first being the standard trade paperback, and the other two are limited editions that come stocked with extras.

Priced at $45 (with $5 pre-order discount) The “Rebel Samizdat” edition, of which only 350 will be printed, comes with:

•    A signed custom letterpress printed jacket and foil stamp designed by John Coulthart
•    The instrumental soundtrack CD “Finch” by Murder by Death, in custom sleeve
•    Secret Lady in Blue rebel radio messages on the front flap of the jacket
•    Incoming spy transmissions from the half-human Partial collaborators on the back flap
•    The back cover of the jacket provides additional information on the Rebel Samizdat edition, including details of its dual creation in Ambergris and in Portland, Oregon. •    The flaps and back cover of the jacket will include text pertaining to the inhuman underground gray caps, and excerpted from the journal of the mysterious Samuel Tonsure.
•    The back cover of the jacket provides additional information on the Heretic edition, including details of its dual creation in Ambergris and in Portland, Oregon. Special properties of the book cited include its propensity to explode into spores if attempting to tamper with the cloth binding.
•    City of Saints & Madman artist Eric Schaller’s infamous war beer label, highly prized in Ambergris for its nostalgic connotations of a time before the gray caps Rose.
•    A supplemental chapbook containing seven thousand words of the original “Fragments of a Drowned City” novel that eventually became Finch, with brief introduction by the author. This material, polished and of high quality, constitutes an “alternative” version of the novel that differs completely from Finch as written. The chapbook will not be released in a further printing, and is only available with this limited edition.
