tinhouse_logoTin House has started what looks to be a content rich blog, as part of their new website for Tin House Books.  They readily poke fun at the fact that starting a blog “ten years after the term was coined,” is “hardly cutting edge.”  But they decided that offering their talented “arsenal of writers” a new arena with which to connect to readers, was worth shedding their “luddite” fear of technology.

The introductory post teases the reader, by hinting at future content:

maybe a short piece by Jan Watson or Keith Lee Morris would soothe the post-partum depression of their books leaving our desks and hitting store shelves. Maybe teasing you with a sample of the new issue would encourage you to pick it up and read Anthony Doerr’s new offering (you’ll thank us). Soon we’ll have Jim Krusoe on returning to his hometown of Cleveland, Zak Smith’s musings (and sketches) from the road, Jeff Parker interviewing contemporary Russian writers, excerpts from the magazine, updates from the Summer Writer’s Workshop, reading recommendations, and whatever else our favorite writers want to provide us.

The most recent post starts a series of Summer Reading Recommendations, this one from Lucy Corin, author of The Entire Predicament, a collection of stories, and Everyday Psychokillers: A History for Girls, a novel.

Looks like a must add to the RSS feed.  Welcome to the blogoshpere Tin House!

Gabe Barber started Reading Local in January of 2009 as a vehicle for exploring Portland's literary scene. He's not an aspiring author, and you won't find his work on a bookshelf or in any prestigious lit rag. He is however, a full on book nerd, with a passion for independent literature.
