Reading Local’s Contest Winner For April

By: Gabe Barber

contestwinnerCongratulations to Rose City Reader, the winner of April’s Reading Local Contest!!  For being the most active participant on Reading Local for the month of April, Rose City Reader wins a $25 gift certificate to the bookstore of her choice, and an additional $25 gift certificate provided by Broadway Books.  $50 in free book money for leaving a few comments, sounds like a pretty good deal!  She is off to a roaring start for May as well, having already left three comments.

I would also like to thank Helen, who came in a close second to Rose City Reader.  Helen also was the impetus behind Reading Local ending up on KATU Channel 2 News.  Maybe starting with June’s contest I will have to come up with a good way to get points for spreading the word about Reading Local as well.

Don’t forget May’s contest increases to $75 in free book money, as an additional $25 gift certificate is being provided by The Title Wave Used Bookstore.  You can read the full details of the contest here.

I would like to send out a big thank you to contest sponsor Broadway Books, for being such a great supporter of the website!

  1. Yippy! But I would have left comments even without the prize. You have a great blog and it is really a terrific resource. This month, because of reading Reading Local, I found Ampersand bookstore, a new favorite, and I saw the cool book art exhibit at the Library.

To spread the word, how about awarding points for links left on other websites and blogs? I know that links are the currency of blog traffic.

  2. Thanks again for the contest prizes. I used my $25 GC at Ampersand today. I ended up spending more than the $25 — of course. But that's part of the fun of it.

Of the several books I found at Ampersand, my favorite "local" book is Panoramas of Promise: Pacific Northwest Cities and Towns on Nineteenth Century Lithographs. Pretty nifty.
