indiebound_logoTomorrow has been dubbed “Buy Indie Day,” and to participate all you have to do is visit one of your local indie bookstores and buy one paperback, hardcover, or audiobook.  They even have a Facebook page dedicated to the global event.

Of course nobody says you have to stop at one store, or one book, you could potentially take care of your 3/50 commitment on the first day of the month!

Gabe Barber started Reading Local in January of 2009 as a vehicle for exploring Portland's literary scene. He's not an aspiring author, and you won't find his work on a bookshelf or in any prestigious lit rag. He is however, a full on book nerd, with a passion for independent literature.

I missed it by a day! I was playing hooky yesterday and bought several art books at the store inside the Portland Art Museum — that would have counted, but I was a day early. They count for my 3/50 plan, though.
