This past weekend while at the Central Library’s Writers Resource Fair I came across the Oregon Library Association’s table and noticed that they were promoting a new website entitled Oregon Authors.

Sorry For the Bad Google Phone Pic

As the pic (which unfortunately you can’t read) says, this new site will be a place where:

  • Oregon authors can build their own webpages including blogs & RSS feeds
  • The homepage will feature podcasts and videocasts
  • Oregon Libraries can post events on an exclusive calendar
  • A special section on Oregon Reads 2009 will be devoted

oregon_authors_logoThe site also lists Oregon reading and writing groups, as well as a list of Oregon publishers.  If you are an Oregon author, publisher, or reading/writing group you are invited to add your information to the site in order to help this list continue to grow.

Kudos to the OLA and the Oregon Center for the Book for being proactive and innovative about promoting the amazing collection of literary talent we have in Oregon.

Gabe Barber started Reading Local in January of 2009 as a vehicle for exploring Portland's literary scene. He's not an aspiring author, and you won't find his work on a bookshelf or in any prestigious lit rag. He is however, a full on book nerd, with a passion for independent literature.
