twitter_logo_125x291For awhile I was asking people that followed me on Twitter what their favorite book was, which garnered some great responses.  As of late I have switched to asking people to “tell me a story, true or not, in 140 characters.”  Although the response rate has been a little lower, it’s been fun to see what people come up with.  Here are a few gems:

@mattpdx a faded ticket’s memory: smell of peanuts, cigars, crack of bat, roar of crowd. young boy’s first ball game. a grandpa’s last

@pdxmama Sat in disbelief w/mom: $10K hidden in garage, Dad’s gift from the grave. Inexplicably drawn to the piano, I found $6K. How did I know?

@readmybook The end turned out to be…just the beginning

@TillamookCheese Tillamook Cheese was originally made by a giant octopus, but the creature was too efficient. So, the dairy gods turned it into a tree.

I will never look at Tillamook Cheese the same way…

Gabe Barber started Reading Local in January of 2009 as a vehicle for exploring Portland's literary scene. He's not an aspiring author, and you won't find his work on a bookshelf or in any prestigious lit rag. He is however, a full on book nerd, with a passion for independent literature.
