normal_sequential_parts_titleRandal C. Jarrell the Managing Editor at Oni Press, the Portland publisher of comics and graphic novels, has started a new column on Newsarama entitled Sequential Parts.  Jarrell’s hope with the column is to:

educate some readers about the behind-the-scenes aspects of the comics industry. I’d like this to be an informative and educational resource for anybody aspiring to work in comics. Even if you don’t have any desire to work in comics, I would hope what I intend to write will give you an added sense of appreciation for the books you read and all the hard work that goes into nurturing a project from a simple idea all the way to a physical copy of a book you can hold in your hands.

The two posts so far have been informative and entertaining. Looks to be a great resource for those looking to break into the business.

Gabe Barber started Reading Local in January of 2009 as a vehicle for exploring Portland's literary scene. He's not an aspiring author, and you won't find his work on a bookshelf or in any prestigious lit rag. He is however, a full on book nerd, with a passion for independent literature.
